IN MEMORIAM:

· Retired Brother John W. Baker passed away in Paducah, Ky. August 5, 2008. A Memorial service will be held by his wife Cindy, on September 6^th, 5:00pm, at the Pour House Bar & Grill, 135 W. Main Street, Gas City, Indiana (See our website for flyer). (Please check your records or call the hall to see where you are paid thru for the Death Benefit Fund, this was Death # 115).

NEW UNION CATERER:

· Kool Breeze Catering, owned by Dave & Melissa Trine, located at 2401 N. Apperson Way, 459-5665 is a brand new IBEW 873 Union caterer. Welcome to our family!

WORK/BOOK PICTURE:

WORK:

· Getrag is still our biggest project with about 140 electricians on the job right now.

· New Hotel coming to Tipton.

· New EMA building in Kokomo is now good to go.

BOOK:

· 3 on Book I looking, about 70 Book II hands working.

· Standing call for Apprentices.

SICK AND NEEDY:

	Thanks to those that contributed to the collections on the job site.
	Newlon’s is still accecpting aluminum cans and rabbit for our fund.

CAMPAIGN HEADQUARTERS:

· Obama Headquarters in Kokomo is located at 217 W. Sycamore St, 2^nd floor. As you already know, Senator Obama has selected Joe Biden as his running mate. We now have a chance to vote a more Labor friendly President into office.

· Grant County Democratic Headquarters located at 4007 S. Western Ave.

SUGGESTIONS AND COMMENTS WANTED:

· You may submit a suggestion or comment to the hall and we will attempt to get it in the newsletter. Suggestions or comments should not be too lengthy and they must be submitted in writing, dated and signed.

SEPTEMBER UNION MEETING DATE CHANGE:

· The 6^th District Progress Meeting will be held September 16^th -19^th, therefore the union meeting has now been set for the second Friday in September (the 12^th). Please plan to attend the Meeting on the 12th.

LABOR DAY EVENTS:

Labor Day Rally’s, Monday September 1^st, Noon-4:00 pm:

· UAW Local 685 Union Hall, 929 East Hoffer Street, Kokomo.

· Hontz Hall, Gas City Park, 307 W. S. H. Street, Gas City.
