Local 873 Veteran Committee
About Us: Building Connections with Veterans and Our Community
IBEW Local 873 Veterans Committee was officially founded on November 11, 2024 — Veterans Day — as the first nationally chartered Veterans Committee in the state of Indiana under the IBEW.
Our mission is to foster brotherhood, volunteerism, community outreach, and serve as a reliable informational resource for veterans within our Local. Whether through hands-on service projects, connecting veterans with benefits, or creating a support network within the electrical trade, we are committed to making a difference.
Our Mission
We aim to serve as a bridge between veterans and professional opportunities, ensuring that those who have served our country have access to the resources and support they need to thrive in the IBEW. Our organization is dedicated to:
- Support: Advocating for needs like mental health and career transitions.
- Education: Access to the apprenticeship
- Community Engagement: Working with businesses and organizations to positively impact the community.
What We Do
Our leadership (Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer) and sub-committees focus on:
- Outreach: Recruiting members and connecting veteran members with resources.
- Volunteer: Planning community and volunteering opportunities.
- Training: Working with IBEW for educational access.
- Advocacy: Addressing challenges like housing and career transitions.
Our Vision
We envision a thriving veteran community where veterans have access to meaningful careers, robust support systems, and a strong sense of camaraderie. By partnering with businesses, organizations, and community leaders, we aim to create a sustainable future for our members and contribute positively to the industries and communities we serve.
